Bellecroft house’s review ( AirBNB, VRBO)
Chris & Lily’s home is idyllic and situated on a very private and peaceful cove, across which you can see Trinity and its harbour. They met us on the property , were so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, had suggestions for restaurants and places to see, and showed us how to work the Newfoundland windows, as it was quite warm during our stay. The Skerwink trail was a quick walk away, and being so close allowed first of the morning access without fighting for a parking spot. Sunsets from the deck overlooking the cove are beautiful. The Port Rexton Brewery is also very close for some gourmet grilled cheese, as was the brightside Bistro ( but you’ll need reservations). Perfect spot from which to explore Bonavista/Elliston and Trinity, with all the amenities included for a quick breakfast bite before going out to explore the area. Very well done and extremely private and an incredible view across the cove to the town of Trinity. Two spacious bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs with plenty of living space on the main floor as well. Chris and Lily greeted us upon arrival and showed us around. Also, take Lily’s advise and make sure you set up your dinner plans ahead of time. Only a few options in town and they can book up fast. Amazing property in a beautiful part of NFL, with exceptional hosts. The house feels like home, the views are beautiful, and there is plenty to do nearby. This was our first trip to Newfoundland. We stayed in several towns during our 13 days in Newfoundland, including 3 nights in St. John’s, but our favorite stay was the 6 nights at the Bellecroft House. The house is perfect with a beautiful kitchen, bathrooms, comfy beds,… but what really made it for us was staying right on the water and seeing the water from every room in the house. It was also so quiet and peaceful. We hiked some but not all the area trails. Skerwink was our favorite with stunning views. Also Gun Hill, including the very top rocky part is a fun hike with great views. We went sea kayaking and saw a Minke whale. We also went on a 3 hour Zodiac boat ride with Kris from Sea of Whales and saw whales and caves and other neat things. Bellecroft House has a nice kitchen but fortunately we didn’t use it much since there are many good area restaurants. Our favorites were Brightside Bistro, Dock Marina Restaurant, and Twine Loft. Loved the fresh Cod. Also the Port Rexton Brewery, close to the house, has great beer and oddly grilled cheese sandwiches. I had a blueberry grilled cheese sandwich that was amazing. One other random thing we loved about the house was the water. Right out of the tap, I’ve never had water so cold and pure tasting. The host said it comes from a 400’ deep well and has been tested for purity. We will definitely be back to Newfoundland and will stay at this house again but for a longer period of time. Chris and Lily are fabulous hosts. Their communication was excellent and they had great recommendations for restaurants (including pointing out amazing menu items) and hikes in the area. The instructions to meet them upon arrival were spot on.
This was one of those houses that is better than the description and the photos. The house has everything we could possibly have needed. Everything about it was great ;our only regret is that the weather limited the opportunities to enjoy the deck. The house was spacious, comfortable , and private, while being close to hikes, restaurants, and other sites/activities- perfect for the relaxing vacation we were looking for. We’ll be back! What a beautiful, very clean and private cottage on the bay across from Trinity. Chris and Lily were amazing hosts and very personable. Excellent communication before we arrived with detailed directions, area places to visit etc. Chris met us on our arrival to go through a few things about the cottage which was very appreciative along with information about the area. Incredible! Do yourself a favor and stay as long as possible. Amazing house with amazing views. Cozy living and dining, great beds and bathrooms, and the kitchen and laundry have high-end appliances. The deck looks across the water to the small historic area of Trinity. The location is perfect and couldn’t be more picturesque. There are tons of great hikes nearby and the location is an easy drive from everything in the peninsula. We wish we had stayed here longer and used this as our base to explore and/or just stay at the house and relax. The hosts are amazing and gave lots of excellent tips for a great trip. We had a very comfortable stay at Bellecroft Vacation Home! The house was immaculate, cosy and had everything we needed, and the surrounding water and views of Trinity were a serene way to enjoy our morning coffee. Beautifully decorated with personal touches from Chris and Lily’s travels, we enjoyed looking at all the art, trinkets and books in the house. Being from Newfoundland myself, I loved the traditional but updated feel of the home. Chris and Lily gave perfect instructions on how to find the place, greeted us upon arrival and were responsive and just a text away if we needed anything. They gave some recommendations on the surrounding trails and restaurants but also gave us our privacy, and met us to say goodbye and invite us back again. As a fan of peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings, this home was perfection. Private, yet less than a km to a delightful bistro with excellent fare. And the Skerwink Trail (a must -see!) is very close (we walked from the house to the trailhead).

We spent a few days in Trinity East when we were visiting our friends in Newfoundland and we had such a nice quiet and relaxed time in Lily and Chris’s house. The setting is so pretty and private, none of us wanted to leave.
Chris & Lily came to meet us at check in to show us around and settle in, with some nice hints and tips about the surrounding area. The house had everything we needed, nice big kitchen which was very well stocked with pans etc (my friend was the chef and was impressed!). The big living room and dining room was perfect for the 4 of us and had great views across the bay, and the two bedrooms (each with a bathroom) were very comfy. We didn’t get the chance to sit on the deck as the weather was terrible, but I think in the sun that would be a great place to sit with wine or beer. There are a few shops and brewery not too far away too, so supplies are easy to get hold of too.

Bellecroft House – Beautifully renovated, stunning water-front getaway property
What can I say-truly lovely home that has been renovated top to bottom. Great location with views that are to die for. The house was well equipped, cosy and provided lots of space for myself and my three sisters. Walking distance to restaurants and to the Sherwink Trail head – absolutely gorgeous. The house has all the beauty and charm of an historic Newfie house, plus it’s bright, clean, and comfortable. The renovation is brand new, everything is top notch and beautifully done. You cannot beat the views across to Trinity. Access to restaurants, hiking, and town is easy. The kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked! There is a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. Spectacular house of a very high quality in an idyllic location showing a very high level of pride of ownership. We felt like we owned our little secluded and private part of the world located on the waters edge where we took a couple of refreshing dips in the cold Atlantic Ocean. We were looking for a place in Trinity/Port Rexton with short notice & we ended up finding a magical place. The house had amazing character, was reasonably priced & wonderful owners (Chris&Lilly). Beautifully, lovingly renovated spacious cottage in an absolutely idyllic setting. Photos don’t do it justice. Foxgloves & other wildflowers are strewn all over the already picturesque waterfront setting. Highly comfortable living room, fully kitted kitchen w everything you might need including delicious coffee. Lovely large luxe bathrooms. Ingenious windows/screens that allow the breeze without the rain. The setting is seriously to die for, looking over the water at Trinity, her lighthouse, & the mountains behind. There’s even a picturesque waterfall down the lane. We were lucky enough to see stunning sunsets & a whale at the mouth of the bay. And more, Lily went completely above & beyond out of her way to solve an issue & ensure a good night’s sleep & stay was had by all. The beds are fantastically comfy. Absolutely could not ask for better hosts. She & Chris were wonderful with communication, & with providing all the lux details that make a house a cozy retreat. And the cottage is walking distance to Brightside Bistro – make your Rez! We couldn’t stay away 3 nights in a row. Perfect house. Perfect hosts. Perfect province. We couldn’t be happier. Chris and Lily have created a gem of a property.. furnished for comfort with a sophisticated understanding of what informal comfort should be. The house came well prepared including kitchen staples and bathroom necessities. I was surprised to find drawers stocked with rubbing alcohol and first aid items. Lots of white, fluffy towels.. everything but a Swedish masseuse. Lily and Chris dropped by to water outdoor plantings and see that we were okay. My wife said talking to Lily was like catching up wit a lifelong friend. The scenery was breathtaking.. Trinity in sight across the bay. The girls and young women servers we encountered at restaurants were wholesome and willing to chat. They personified the pleasant character Newfoundlanders are known for. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful waterfront home in Port Rexton. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed by the incredibly friendly and communicative hosts (Lily and Chris) – they truly went above and beyond to make our stay special.
The home itself was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly located with stunning views. There was so much to do in the area! We loved hiking the breathtaking Skirwink Trail, going whale watching, and exploring local scene. One of the highlights was dining at the Twine Loft- an unforgettable experience with amazing food and atmosphere.
